History

In the early 1950s, Hong Kong's plastics industry was beginning to emerge. A group of advanced seniors met regularly to discuss skills and exchange information. Later, everyone agreed, and in 1957, "Chinese Plastics Union Company" was founded to bring together peers in the industry. , contact manufacturers. By 1958, in order to further gather strength and seek common development, the company was registered and officially renamed the "Hong Kong and Kowloon Plastics Manufacturers Associations ".

Through the efforts of the Board of Supervisors and the enthusiasm of the members, progress has been made day by day. The 1960s were the prosperous years of the Hong Kong plastics industry. In order to cope with the development and enhance the image, the fourth Board of Directors entrusted an accountant to handle the registration procedures of the limited company, 1966 On March 14, 2016, it was approved by the Companies Registry of the Hong Kong Government and officially registered as the "Hong Kong and Kowloon Plastic Products Merchants United Associations Limited (HKKP)", and was issued certificate No. 12551.

In 1973, the Extraordinary General Meeting approved a partial revision of the association's constitution, changing the Board of Supervisors to the Board of Directors, setting up a chairman and vice-chairman to preside over the affairs of the meeting, and the directors of each department to perform their respective duties. The current president served as a senior advisor to the board of directors and hired people related to the industry. The most distinguished members of the society are appointed as honorary advisors, and former leaders who have made outstanding contributions to the association are hired as honorary presidents to supervise the affairs of the association. This organizational structure is still followed today.

At the beginning of the establishment of the association, there was no credentials. The forefathers and sages worked hard to open up the mountains and forests. However, due to the failure of the club to stabilize, there were many obstacles to the implementation of the association's affairs. In order to obtain a permanent club and provide a foundation for the expansion of the association's affairs, the third term of directors and supervisors During his term of office, he launched an initiative to raise funds to purchase a clubhouse. The fourth board of directors and supervisors took over the planning and put it into practice.

In November 1964, the joint meeting of directors and supervisors approved the establishment of the "Hong Kong and Kowloon Plastics Manufacturers Associations Property Acquisition Committee". The directors and supervisors took the lead in donating donations, and the congregation responded enthusiastically and donated generously, quickly raising a huge sum of money. In the spring of the following year, Kowloon was purchased. A nearly 1,000-square-foot property on the 13th floor of Wang Wang Building, No. 491 Nathan Road. It was Xia Zeji who moved there. On 20th November, the then Hong Kong Executive Legislative Council member was invited to officiate and hold a grand opening ceremony. The club moved in and it has been 40 years since During the winter and summer, it was renovated many times and modern equipment was added. The foundation of the desired luck will be permanent, and the image will always be new.

Memorable

Memorable of HKKP

The founding purpose of this association is to unite colleagues in the industry, communicate with the government at the top, serve the congregation at the bottom, act as a link and bridge, and seek common development of the industry.

Furthermore, it will contact other associations, safeguard the rights and interests of the industry, enhance the image of the industry, and jointly create prosperity for Hong Kong. Uphold the purpose , abide by the principles, promote the conference affairs, follow the steps step by step, persevere, and be pragmatic and steady. Looking back on more than forty years, there are many things in the past, selected highlights are summarized below, and we also have a glimpse of the long and long way to go.

From the 1960s to the 1970s, the Hong Kong government repeatedly enacted legislation to include plastics as general dangerous goods for control. The Association immediately joined forces with the Two Friends Associations to hire lawyers to negotiate, arguing that the legislation would have a heavy blow to the emerging plastics industry; at the same time, we urged the fire department to The Secretariat guided the formulation of the "Plastics Industry Safety Code of Practice" and the three chambers of commerce jointly established the "Plastics Industry Fire Prevention Self-Regulatory Committee". This eventually led the government to re-enact the law. In the following thirty years, the "Plastics Industry Fire Prevention Self-Regulatory Committee" has repeatedly achieved outstanding results. Appreciated by the Fire Services Department, the industry was able to win room for development while safeguarding public interests. Subsequently, whenever the government promulgated laws such as waste disposal, noise control, etc., and foreign countries promulgated regulations such as entrance restrictions, safety standards, etc., all conflicts with the industry In this regard, the Association puts forward positive opinions and reasonable requests on the premise of safeguarding the rights and interests of the industry and social welfare.

In the 1972 Gulf War, the oil embargo, the price of plastic raw materials soared, and the market was almost shut down due to speculative hoarding. The association immediately launched a series of rescue campaigns in conjunction with the two Friends' Associations. The "Plastic Industry Raw Material Price Stabilization Committee" was established. To Shenzhen Ming Dayi's raw material dealers raised major raw materials and distributed them to urgently needed small and medium-sized enterprises at reasonable prices. Later, they actively reached agreements with foreign plastic raw material manufacturers and local importers to expand supply and stabilize prices, which ultimately allowed the industry to tide over the difficulties safely.

Since the 1970s, the Freight Forwarding Association has significantly increased shipping charges or terminal handling charges many times. Plastic products have been hit even harder due to their large volume and low value. The association, together with the Hong Kong Friends Association, and with the assistance of the Hong Kong Shippers Association and even the government, have launched Negotiations were held, press conferences were held, and calls for boycotts were made, successfully suppressing unreasonable fee increases.

With the opening up of China, there has been an upsurge in the migration of Hong Kong industries to the north. However, setting up factories in the mainland is actually a new experience. The association promptly organizes factory visits to visit and study the factories of the president and members in the mainland, and learn from experience through discussion and exchange. Many activities, There are more than 100 participants. The association has also actively established exchange visits with governments, chambers of commerce and peers in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Zhanjiang, Shantou and Guangxi to understand the local investment environment and assist members in developing business. More While investing in cooperation, we also support the work of establishing schools and alleviating poverty. At the request of the Guangdong Provincial Government, our Association donated a huge amount of money to alleviate poverty, which was highly commended. As for the charitable deeds our members have done in their hometowns and places of investment, there are too many to mention.

With the strong assistance of the Xinhua News Agency Hong Kong Branch, the Association, together with the Friends of Friends of the Association, organized the <Five Associations of Hong Kong Plastics Industry Chambers of Commerce Beijing Delegation> to visit Beijing from May 17 to 23, 1994. Justice Huang Baoxin and Professor Pan Zongguang, as political and business circles Well-known figures in academic circles and leaders of Xinhua News Agency served as consultants to the visiting delegation. There were nearly a hundred people in the delegation, all of whom were senior elites in the industry. The visiting delegation received great attention from the central government. Mr. Zou Jiahua, Vice Premier of the State Council, received the visiting delegation at Ziguang Pavilion, Zhongnanhai. Mr. Wang Zhaoguo, Minister of the United Front Work Department, Mr. Jing Shuping, Chairman of the All-China Associations of Industry and Commerce, and Mr. Chen Ziying, Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, successively received and hosted banquets for the visiting delegation. This trip to Beijing was a grand visit of the highest level for the Hong Kong plastics industry.

On the eve of the handover, Hong Kong is at an important moment of historical transformation. The industry listened closely to the central leadership's explanation of China's foreign investment policies, guaranteed that Hong Kong will continue to maintain stability and prosperity after its return, enhanced its understanding of one country-two systems, and became firmer about Hong Kong's prospects and investing in China. Faith has a profound meaning.
